Think about how someone in your life made you feel that made you feel amazing..
Often, we forget what people say to us. Really, there are so many words and distractions coming at us 100mph from all directions.
However, do we ever forget how they made us feel?
Even just "Listening" to someone work through an issue might mean everything to that person. Here is one of the reasons why.
Hearing is Physical - you literally hear the person talking.
Listening is Phycological - you go through a mental process of understanding.
This is a conscious activity.
Are you Transactional or Conscious?
When you are conscious and aware, it is not about the sale or yourself. Rather, it is about people and the relationship.
During this journey we call life, if you can evoke that inner conscious greatness that exists in every single one of us, you will find that the more people you connect with in a positive manner the better the results in life will be.
I remember when I was going through rounds of venture capital pitches, all but one person snubbed me. His name was Fred. Fred was a unique person with a pedigreed back ground in finance.
Fred took me under his wing for a summer. He was an old dude but sharp as a tack, also maybe the wisest person I ever met. During the summer mentorship I was introduced to many A list people.
We were at a weekend event, a camp if you would for investors and entrepreneurs, he invited me to his table. His people all had reserved seats. Since he played a key role in the event he was looked upon with great admiration. Fred introduced me to several people as his partner and friend. Never at all condescending.
Fred tapped me on the shoulder and said, Do you know who Kevin Harrington is from the Shark Tank.
Of course I said "Yes!"
He said, "Want to meet him? He asked me to critique his opening and I am headed to the boat house now, come on I'll introduce you."
Fred taught me a lot about communication and how to make people feel. It inspired me to seek a deeper meaning of myself, of life and of consciousness so I could make other feel the same way.
