First off, you gotta figure out what's the most valuable thing in your life. Then ask yourself how much time you're gonna devote to it. Most likely, for a majority of people, the answer is going to be 'not enough. If we were humans by nature and not society and all its norms and expectations and other crap like that, we would probably feel guilty about not devoting so much time to our families or friends or even ourselves. But we aren't. We live in this world where we have to work hard just to survive. And as such, our dreams die slowly as years go by because they're always put on hold until one day they just disappear entirely because there wasn't enough time to pursue them.
This is why you gotta make a choice. You have to ask yourself what's the most important thing in your life, and then you HAVE TO devote all of your energy to it if you want a shot at actually living a good one. Don't try to put things off until tomorrow because many people never get that chance again when today is gone forever.
Recently we lost a friend. He was a coach in the real estate industry and he was a brilliant man. He was passionate about his work and he had an excellent reputation as a leader. He knew what was important and it was families, friends and inner peace, this showed through his work and this showed in the hundreds of tributes I have read.
The reason for this is simple, he had a loving family he was dedicated to, surrounded by great friends, seemed to be at peace and he loved what he did for work. This is balance, this is what life is intended to be like.
Never get so busy making a living that you forget to make a life. Be with yourself, take some time to be with your family because tomorrow it's not guaranteed.
